Sustainability and community
At Urbex, sustainability guides everything we do. We integrate environmental stewardship and social responsibility to create communities that endure, thrive, and leave a legacy. From planning and design through to delivery, we consider both environmental impact and community wellbeing at every stage.
Environmental Sustainability
We deliver communities that are responsible, resilient, and designed for life:
- Protecting and enhancing natural landscapes. Thoughtful planning preserves and enhances green spaces.
- Integrating green initiatives. We implement solutions that reduce environmental impact and strengthen long-term performance.
- Designing connected, resilient places. Parks, playgrounds, shared pathways, and open spaces aren’t just features — they’re spaces where wellbeing, connection, and community life thrives.
Every community we deliver complies with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and codes of practice. Beyond meeting these standards, we’re committed to continually improving our environmental performance.
Social Sustainability & Community Impact
We believe strong communities are built on shared opportunity, inclusion, and engagement. We partner with First Nations groups and local organisations around the country, supporting initiatives across health, wellbeing, arts, culture, job creation, and social development.Since 2013, Urbex has proudly supported:
- Darwin Buffaloes Football Club. 100-year community institution promoting sport for all.
- Townsville to Cairns Bike Ride. Driving awareness and support for critical local causes.
- Special Children’s Christmas Party. Bringing joy to thousands of children and families.
- Industry groups. UDIA and the Property Council of Australia, contributing to innovation and policy in property development.
We also lead community events that bring people together and help create
communities Australians are proud to call home.
Indigenous Engagement
We have extensive experience working in regional First Nation communities. Our
policies, programs, and training reflect a strong commitment to diversity, equal
opportunity, and reconciliation.
Building on the BMD Group’s Reconciliation Action Plan established in 2017, we work closely with partners, clients, and suppliers to deliver meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
